FAMILY HOME STORAGE

Sisters,

For some members, "food storage" is a good thing...but only in bits and pieces. Enough to show obedience, but not so much as to be "extreme," however individual members might define that.

Yet, as time goes by...Church counsel certainly seems to be expanding to cover more food storage and "emergency preparedness topics. Take a look at http://providentliving.org/, if you haven't read it lately, the advice is still broad and general...yet is is also getting steadily more comprehensive as time passes.

Food Storage is now Family Home Storage, of which food storage is just one part.

There are now guidelines on how to purify water...and even recommendations on good commercial water filters/purifiers.

And through the distrobution center catalog...the church is even SELLING water filters; food storage "starter kits," packing and canning materials, etc.

A financial reserve is more and more emphasized...and Church leaders seem to be pushing the paying off of debt more strenuously than ever.

One article that I've come to be particularly fond of is "Lay Up in Store" by Bishop Keith B. McMullin, Second Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric. Published in the Ensign in May, 2007, it is available online http://www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.js...__
